Our View

Dating from 1695, this welcoming inn, located on an old drovers’ road at the foot of Ben Vrackie, is a popular base for walking and touring. Locals are drawn to the bar for the excellent home-brewed beers, with Moulin Ale of Atholl, Braveheart and Light, and Belhaven Best served on hand pump. The interior boasts beautiful stone walls and lots of cosy niches, with blazing log fires in winter; while the courtyard garden is lovely in summer. Menus offer the opportunity to try something local such as mince and tatties; venison Braveheart (strips of local venison pan-fried with mushrooms and Braveheart beer); and Vrackie Grostel (sautéed potatoes with smoked bacon lightly herbed and topped with a fried egg). You might then round off your meal with sticky toffee pudding. A specials board broadens the choice further. 25 wines by the glass and more than 30 malt whiskies are available.
