Our View
The National Museum of Scotland, located in the heart of Edinburgh's old town, re-opened in July 2011, following a £47.4 million redevelopment. Featuring spectacular Victorian architecture combined with an exciting modern building, the museum houses galleries dedicated to the natural world, science and technology, art and design, world cultures and the story of Scotland. From dinosaur bones to designer chairs, mummies to motors, a world of discovery awaits on every floor. Three interactive galleries designed especially for families, a new learning centre, international touring exhibitions, special events, shops and restaurants add to the enjoyment. A couple of miles east, Portobello is Edinburgh’s seaside area, with a long stretch of golden sand that attracts droves of city dwellers on sunny summer days.
