Our Inspector's view
This charming 18th-century coaching inn, now a restaurant with rooms, is ideally situated for touring the Norfolk coastline. The smartly appointed bedrooms are brightly finished with co-ordinated fabrics and hand-made New England furniture. Public rooms feature white clapboard walls, polished dark wood floors, fresh flowers and Lloyd Loom furniture. Obviously, the food is very much a draw here – the carefully prepared, award-winning cuisine uses excellent local produce such as oysters and mussels from Thornham and quinces grown on a neighbouring farm.
