On the edge of Bodmin Moor, and handy for Launceston and Liskeard, this is a comfortable inn offering four Cornish guest ales, a takeaway menu of pizza and fish and chips, themed food nights and a menu focused on the best of local ingredients. Winter dishes might be Cornish gin and dill-cured salmon with beetroot, horseradish crème fraîche and G&T jelly; or wild mushroom soup to begin. Move on to breast of pheasant with creamed potatoes; pork cooked three ways, or organic beef burger. Round it all off with sticky toffee pudding and butterscotch sauce or a classic crème brûlée.
