Our View
This long established street-corner inn is a pleasing mix of locals' saloon bar, complete with stained-glass windows and an eye-catching Victorian gantry, and a well-maintained art deco lounge long ago converted from the inn’s stables. The Royal Arch itself was a monument built to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Dundee visit in 1863; a fragment survives on display in the bar. Dispensed from this bar are quality Scottish beers such as from local Brewing 71, as well as over 50 malt whiskies; satisfying pub meals can include sweet and sour chicken, fish pie, or the impressive Broughty Burger. There’s a pavement terrace canopy for all-weather, alfresco eating and drinking. Beer, cider and sausage festivals are held.
