Our View

The name means 'a settlement above the trees', although this charming 600-year-old inn near the Helford River actually lies at the foot of a densely wooded valley. Since taking over, Will and Lisa Lea have created a popular local, which benefits from a pretty beer garden complete with vine-shaded pergola. In the black-beamed bar, regularly changing local real ales might include Penzance Potion No 9, served alongside Healey's Cornish Rattler cider. You can eat in the bar or the bistro, with most dishes likely to be sourced locally. Cornish mussels with white wine cream, onion and garlic sauce might be followed by chicken and leek pie.
