Escape to a campsite near you this summer

Discover a campsite with the AA Covid Confident mark

A survey by Go Outdoors revealed that the main reason people enjoy camping is the family time it provides, followed by the wide range of outdoor activities. 21% said they liked camping as it allowed them to be within easy reach of holiday destinations.  The survey also highlighted that 51% would choose to go somewhere coastal to camp with 15% opting for a national park. July and August were the most popular months to pitch a tent.

To help those looking to camp this month, we are putting six sites which have received the AA COVID Confidence mark into our spotlight. Choose a place to find out more about the measures these venues have put in place.

Karrageen Caravan & Camping Park

This is a small friendly, family-run park in Kingsbridge, Devon with secluded hidden dells for tents and terraced grass pitches giving extensive sea and country views. There is a well-stocked shop and an excellent toilet block that has two cubicles − one suitable for families and for less able visitors. This park is just one mile from the beach and the pretty hamlet of Hope Cove and is a really peaceful park from which to explore the South Hams coast.

Back of Beyond Touring Park

This lovely adults-only park, a member of the Tranquil Parks group, is set in 30 acres of woodland and offers plenty of pleasant walks. Visitors are sure to receive a warm welcome from the owners and their team. In addition to good caravan and motorhome pitches, there are some excellent areas for tents. The site has a fishing lake and a picnic area, and the whole area is a haven for wildlife. Facilities are well appointed and very clean. There are fish and chip and pizza nights as well as BBQ evenings, and guests will find an excellent shop stocked with local produce. A secluded and separate glamping area offers camping pods, a yurt, two new shepherd's huts and cabins for hire – all have their own spacious decking areas.

Long Acres Touring Park

A small, rural, adults-only park in an attractive setting within easy reach of Boston, Spalding and Skegness. Excellent shelter is provided by the high, mature boundary hedging. The park has a smart toilet block which is very clean and has an appealing interior with modern, upmarket fittings and a laundry room. A holiday cottage is available to let. Long Acres is a member of the Tranquil Parks group.

Norden Farm Touring Caravan and Camping Site

This delightful farm site offers traditional camping but with excellent toilet and shower facilities. It is a very dog-friendly site and is ideally suited for those who enjoy country pursuits. Its location is very close to Corfe Castle so it’s very convenient for visiting the Isle of Purbeck and Swanage (the Swanage Railway now runs seasonal trains from Swanage through to Wareham).

Wolds Way Caravan and Camping

A park on a working farm in a peaceful, high position on the Yorkshire Wolds, with magnificent views over the Vale of Pickering. This is an excellent walking area, with the Wolds Way passing the entrance to the site. A pleasant one-and-a-half-mile path leads to a lavender farm, with its first-class coffee shop.

Fairfields Farm Caravan & Camping Park

Fairfields Farm is a multi-award-winning campsite on a 200-acre family-run working farm. Discover an idyllic setting within a National Nature Reserve just minutes from the coast and South Downs. The campsite offers level grass pitches, a farm trail and a well-stocked fishing lake. There is free Wi-Fi, excellent shower and toilet facilities and a welcoming reception and shop. Eastbourne is just four miles away and there is a range of visitor attractions in the area.
