Hotels up and down the country have been donating rooms to NHS workers, while their chefs have been discovering new ways to feed key and vulnerable communities during lockdown.
Meanwhile, others have been thinking up different ways to do their bit. We take a look at the unique initiatives taken by several AA red star hotels.
The luxury 5-red star Claridge's has provided free accommodation for up to 40 nurses and doctors since early April – the NHS workers will also receive breakfast and dinner. Renowned as a resort for royalty, the lockdown is the first time the London hotel has been closed to the general public in its 200-year history.
Alexander House Hotel
The 5-star West Sussex hotel and spa has launched an online grocery service with a range of household goods, fresh and frozen produce. The produce is from the hotels long established network of suppliers and is designed support them through this periody. Even though their kitchens are shut for now, they've even been able to include ready meals in their offering.
The Knightbridge's luxury hotel with 5 red stars and 5 Rosettes (via Marcus) is finding a unique way to serve up food to passing police, fire and ambulance keyworkers. They've set up an 'Emergency Services Drive-Thru'.
A close neighbour, The Lanesborough, is asking for nominations for NHS-workers, who'll then receive 'a complimentary gift once hospitality industry restrictions have been lifted' - find how you can nominate someone.
THE PIG hotels
Chefs at the 4-red star Cotswold Calcot hotel and spa have been very busy sending out two-course meals to vulnerable people isolated by the coronavirus lockdown. A main course and dessert are created by the kitchen team and then delivered by council volunteers.
The Buckinghamshire stately home and hotel is issuing a 'Twlight Spa Evening' for local NHS heroes for every full-day spa voucher purchased until the end of May.
