Perched on a clifftop, the large Carlyon Bay Hotel, spa and golf course is an imposing presence…
Duporth Lodge
“Well appointed property finished to a high standard” - VisitEngland Assessor
St Austell, Cornwall
Our Inspector's view
Duporth Lodge is an historic property, retaining lots of its original character alongside up to date comfort and amenities. Its large triple aspect sitting room, dining room and kitchen/breakfast room offer plenty of relaxing living space for a group of up to 6; it also makes a cosy base for a smaller group. The enclosed patio leading from the kitchen is perfect for outdoor dining on warmer days. The furnishing is of a very high standard, with luxuriously comfortable Hypnos beds in all three bedrooms and a well equipped kitchen. The attention paid to making the property environmentally friendly, including its Ecotricity energy supply and electric car charging point, has earned a Green Tourism Silver award. A huge part of Duporth Lodge’s appeal is its great location, well served by public transport. A woodland walk from the gate will take you to the peaceful private beach at Duporth and the South West Coast Path. The beaches at Porthpean and Charlestown are also easily accessed on foot or by a very short drive. Charlestown itself is a superbly preserved Georgian harbour village and World Heritage Site, with lots to look at and plenty of places to eat too. Other nearby attractions include Fowey, Mevagissey, Polkerris, The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Wheal Martyn Mining museum. There is never a shortage of interesting places to visit from here.
