"Historic park restored to original 18th-century splendour"
Overview
Located on the west side of Sedgefield, Hardwick Park is an 18th-century Grade II-listed site with many historical features. Designed by architect James Paine, it combines woodland, ornamental buildings and a circuit walk around two lakes. Four once-overgrown gothic ruins, including The Temple of Minerva, were painstakingly restored in recent years.

About the area
County Durham reaches halfway across England, from the North Pennines in the west, to the sea in the east. Much of it is very sparsely inhabited, and is naturally beautiful; a mix of rolling hills, monumental valleys, lush farmland and unforgiving moors.
