Dock Museum
"Expect high standards."
Overview
Visit this unique building in a stunning coastal location. The Dock Museum is set into a Victorian dry dock and charts the growth of Barrow in Furness from small fishing village, to Victorian boom time, to a modern centre of industrial innovation. Highlights include the stunning craftsman-built ship models, the Viking “Furness Hoard”, our temporary exhibitions and events programme. Other facilities include a well-stocked gift shop, The Bridge Cafe, and our recently refurbished adventure playground. The museum is fully accessible to all, including offering free to use Sensory packs within the museum. About the area
Cumbria's rugged yet beautiful landscape is best known for the Lake District National Park that sits within its boundaries. It’s famous for Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, and Derwent Water, ‘Queen of the English Lakes', but other lesser-known areas in the south, such as the Lune Valley and the coastal towns, are secret gems of wide cobbled streets and rolling hills.
