"Friendly local with cosy bedrooms upstairs."
Overview
The Oak Tree Inn is very popular with the locals, and that's no surprise. It's got a lot of Northern charm and character, and a classic tiled bar, not to mention a decent choice of ales and wines. Bedrooms are all en suite, with comfy beds and tea- and coffee-making facilities. The Beamish Living Museum is a wonderful local attraction.

About the area
County Durham reaches halfway across England, from the North Pennines in the west, to the sea in the east. Much of it is very sparsely inhabited, and is naturally beautiful; a mix of rolling hills, monumental valleys, lush farmland and unforgiving moors.
