"Warm hospitality, character rooms and good honest food"
Overview
There is something beguiling about Somerton, a lovely little market town in an ideal location from which to explore this part of Somerset. The White Hart can trace its roots back to the 16th century but in more recent years it has benefited from major refurbishment and the results are impressive. The style is an engaging blend of traditional and modern that creates a very relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. The hospitality is warm and genuine right from the start. The bedrooms have bags of appeal with character and comfort in equal measure – no two rooms are the same. Food is taken seriously here – the committed team work hard to deliver simple, elegant dishes based on locally-sourced, quality produce.

About the area
Somerset remains rural and unspoiled, and ever popular areas to visit are the limestone and red sandstone Mendip Hills rising to over 1,000 feet, and by complete contrast, to the south and southwest, the flat landscape of the Somerset Levels. Another popular spot, the Quantocks, once the haunt of poets Coleridge and Wordsworth, are noted for their gentle slopes, heather-covered moorland expanses and red deer.
