Beamish Holiday Park★★★★
"A truly ‘bonny’ place to stay"
Overview
Formerly named the Bobby Shafto (he of song fame) Caravan Park after an 18th-century politician and local landowner, Beamish Holiday Park is aimed at those who enjoy solitude. Next door is Beamish, the Living Museum of the North, telling the story of life during various past decades. Hadrian’s Wall, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Durham cathedral are all easy drives.

About the area
County Durham reaches halfway across England, from the North Pennines in the west, to the sea in the east. Much of it is very sparsely inhabited, and is naturally beautiful; a mix of rolling hills, monumental valleys, lush farmland and unforgiving moors.
