Cedar Tree Restaurant by Hrishikesh Desai
"Surprising flavour combinations in sumptuous setting."
Overview
Cedar Tree Restaurant by Hrishikesh Desai occupies a central space within Farlam Hall, set in landscaped gardens complete with ornamental lake and stream. Visionary owners Joseph Walter and Kathy Mares bought this historic property in 2019 after more than 20 years of visits. With roots dating back to 1428, the place owes much of its fabric to those tireless Victorian home improvement enthusiasts, whose spirit lives on with the current custodians. Their tireless work to refurbish and transform this delightful building has produced a supremely comfortable place, elegantly done out in greys and silvers, its restaurant light and welcoming with high ceilings and opulent period details.

About the area
Cumbria's rugged yet beautiful landscape is best known for the Lake District National Park that sits within its boundaries. It’s famous for Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, and Derwent Water, ‘Queen of the English Lakes', but other lesser-known areas in the south, such as the Lune Valley and the coastal towns, are secret gems of wide cobbled streets and rolling hills
