"Seasonal menus and wonderful Severn Valley views."
Overview
Looking out from its perch on a wooded hillside, The Cottage in the Wood offers appetising panoramic views across the Severn Valley. The delightful Georgian house is reworked with a cool, contemporary look in the 1919 restaurant – an ideal setting for the kitchen's refined, classically inspired modern cooking. Cured chalk stream trout with dill and crispy mussels is a beautifully composed starter, while succulent venison medallions matched with deeply caramelised and buttery autumn vegetables, pearl barley and kale makes an equally well conceived and sharply executed dish. There’s a good wine selection by the bottle and the glass plus local ales and ciders.

About the area
Worcestershire is a county of rolling hills, save for the flat Vale of Evesham in the east and the prominent spine of the Malverns in the west. Nearly all of the land is worked in some way; arable farming predominates – oilseed rape, cereals and potatoes – but there are concentrated areas of specific land uses, such as market gardening and plum growing
