Discover North Wales
Exploring North Wales
The beautiful, varied landscapes of North Wales (Gogledd Cymru) showcase a rich, culture of World Heritage, action packed adventures, mountain trails, waterfalls and wildlife. The region is divided into 6 counties: Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham.
Full of history and character, Anglesey has plenty of dog-friendly walks and an excellent selection of festivals celebrating music, culture, local food and the county’s unique heritage. Gwynedd is home to most of Snowdonia National Park, which showcases mighty peaks, rivers and a strong Welsh heritage. Conwy has a picturesque coastline, with a third of the county falling within Snowdonia National Park. The most complete walled town in Britain, the walkway along the top offers splendid over-the-rooftop views of the castle. Denbighshire includes the seaside holiday towns of Rhyl and Prestatyn, the medieval county town of Denbigh, and the tiny cathedral town of St Asaph. Flintshire has been described as both ‘the Gateway to Wales’ and ‘Wales in miniature’. The purple-heathered Clwydian Range, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and Talacre Beach sporting a picturesque lighthouse and miles of world-famous sand dunes, are particularly popular with visitors. Wrexham, a bustling town and the largest in north Wales, is home to Thomas Telford’s magnificent 10-arched aqueduct and Chirk’s 14th-century castle, which stands proudly overlooking the town and the Ceiriog Valley.
