The New Inn
"Local ales and food in secluded Devon valley"
Overview
An attractive, thatched 13th-century building makes a perfect home for this warm and friendly inn. The bar has a worn stone floor, old chests and polished brass, blending effortlessly with the original oak beams and simple wooden furniture in the dining room. The garden, with a stream running beside it, is the perfect setting for alfresco summer dining. Menus change regularly with an emphasis on fresh local produce, and the homemade food includes soups, omelettes and sandwiches for a lighter lunch, along with pub classics such as fish and chips and steak and ale pie. Don't forget to check out the specials board. The pub's talking Amazon Blue parrot, Captain, has been a fixture and firm favourite for nearly 40 years.
