This stunning-looking golden-stone pub commands the centre of a tiny village above the Avon Valley, just outside Bath. A log-burner, slab flooring and country prints welcome you to the airy bar; the cosy dining room is pleasingly cottagey in character. The cuisine is proudly British and seasonal. There's an on-site smokehouse, while the veg and herbs come from the grounds. The lavender-scented secluded garden is a summer delight.
