In typically tranquil Oxfordshire countryside, this 16th-century, stone-built dining pub feels a world away from the busy Newbury and Swindon roads, just a mile away. The heart of the pub is Tudor, with ancient fireplaces, flagstone floors and mullioned windows with carved lintels all adding to the atmosphere. There’s a comfortable conservatory and south-facing terrace, bedrooms are full of character, and the food has been awarded an AA Rosette.
