Skegness Natureland Seal Sanctuary
Overview
Natureland houses seals, penguins, tropical birds, aquaria and reptiles, as well as a pets' corner. Also free-flight tropical butterflies (Apr-Oct). Natureland is well known for its rescue of abandoned seal pups, and has successfully reared and returned to the wild a large number of them. The hospital unit incorporates a public viewing area, and a large seascape seal pool (with underwater viewing). There are also meerkats.

About the area
Much of the fenland around the Wash has been drained of its marshes and reclaimed as highly productive farmland. Further north, the coastline, with its sandy beaches, has been developed to accommodate the holiday industry, with caravans, campsites and the usual seaside paraphernalia.
