Overview
Antony House is a fine, largely unaltered mansion, built in brick and Pentewan stone for Sir William Carew between 1711 and 1721. The stable block and outhouses remain from an earlier 18th-century building. The house contains contemporary furniture, paintings and textiles. Among the artworks on display are paintings by Sir Joshua Reynolds, and a painting of Charles I during his trial. The grounds include a dovecote, the National Collection of Daylilies and the Bath Pond House. The Woodland Garden, owned and run by the Carew Pole Garden Trust, also has outstanding rhododendrons, azaleas, magnolias and camellias.
