Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell

Recommended by Visit England Logo
Overview
From the Medieval to the Modern day, the Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell tells the story of the city's industries and the people who have lived and worked here. From the textile trade which was at the heart of the city's wealth, to the production of shoes, chocolate and mustard, the story of how Norwich has adapted to changing fortunes, and coped with two World Wars, is told in ten galleries and over two floors. The galleries are packed with objects and displays, and plenty of chances to get hands-on. There are also audio diaries, archive films and board games you can play in a 1950s dining room.

About the area
The North Norfolk Coast is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and probably the finest of its kind in Europe. Here you’ll find a string of quaint villages and small towns – Holkham, Wells-next-the-Sea and Cley next the Sea are 21st-century favourites, while Sheringham and Cromer are classic examples of a good old-fashioned seaside resort where grand Victorian hotels look out to sea.
