Overview
The Piece Hall is a unique Grade I listed building dating back to 1779, originally built for trading of ‘pieces’ of cloth. Today it’s placed amongst the great town squares of Europe, with a treasure trove of independent shops, unique bars and restaurants surrounding the huge open-air piazza. The stories of Georgian Halifax are told in specially created exhibition spaces and a world-class programme of live music, performance and spectacle make this a must-visit destination.

Everybody knows that Yorkshire has some special landscapes. The Dales and the Moors first spring to mind, but what about West Yorkshire? That’s Leeds and Bradford isn’t it? Back-to-back houses and blackened mills… Certainly if you had stood on any of the hills surrounding Hebden Bridge a hundred years ago, and gazed down into the valley, all you would have seen was the pall of smoke issuing from the chimneys of 33 textile mills.
