"The staff's knowledge of the wildlife is second to none and they are clearly very passionate about the subject."
Overview
Blacktoft Sands feature more than 270 species of birds throughout the year. The tidal reedbed is the largest in England, and is important for its breeding bearded tits, bitterns and marsh harriers. One of the most breathtaking sights in summer is pairs of marsh harriers, which pass food from one to the other in mid-air during their acrobatic courtship display. In winter, there are thousands of ducks easily viewed from wheelchair-accessible hides.
