Overview
A handsome Georgian manor house, Summer Lodge Country House Hotel sits in glorious countryside in the heart of the Dorset Downs. The traditional dining room has a timeless elegance, or there’s a light and airy conservatory – whichever you choose, the team creates menus using fantastic produce available on the doorstep, including from the hotel’s kitchen garden. Salmon mi-cuit with compressed cucumber, yuzu purée, Dorset wasabi, seaweed tapioca and dill buttermilk sauce shows excellent understanding of balance and interaction of flavours, as does main-course Sherborne Castle Estate venison with blackberry Pontack sauce, hay-baked celeriac, hazelnut praline and cassis-pickled blackberry.
