Overview
Tucked away just behind the BBC’s Broadcasting House, Portland scores high in the understated cool stakes. The clean-lined, contemporary dining room has an intimate ambience, its Scandi-style tables and chairs illuminated by low-slung filament lights, and bright artwork leading the eye to the open kitchen at the back. This faultless modern take on new-Brit cuisine delivers in spades; brimming with innovation and seasonality, a classy lightness of touch, balanced and eye-catching presentation, but, above all, flavour. Choose perhaps crab raviolo with brown butter bisque, citrus, sea herbs and caviar to start, followed by beef rump cap and caramelised shortrib with onion, kale and brown ale sauce.
