Botanical enthusiasts will want to visit this Royal Horticultural Society Garden on the outskirts of the town, off the B6162. With 58 impressive acres, Harlow Carr has a lovely mix of the formal and informal, with a plant and gift shop, and places for refreshments. The garden hosts a variety of events, festivals and exhibitions throughout the year and there is even a branch of Bettys, the famous Yorkshire tea rooms.
