Overview
This is an award-winning museum of local archaeology, history, arts and crafts. Over the past 50 years, the Museum has amassed an impressive collection of over 50,000 artefacts of local and national significance. Throughout the year various special exhibitions take place.

About the area
County Monaghan was once part of the old kingdom of Ulster, but since the partition in 1922 it has been part of the Republic. It is a county of pleasant though unspectacular scenery, characterised by round drumlin hills, relics of the last ice age.
