Set in the magnificent grounds of National Trust-owned Stourhead estate with its Palladian temples and lakes, the Spread Eagle Inn occupies a handsome red-brick building with Georgian windows, low ceilings and uneven floors. Menus go to great lengths to feature produce from named local farms and fish sourced daily from the south coast. Try the seasonal vegetable curry; haddock, pea and pancetta risotto, or slow-roasted pork belly.
