"Cooking from the heart at this warm, family-run restaurant."
Overview
It may be housed in an ancient beamed building, reputedly the oldest in town, but there’s nothing old-fashioned about LI~LY by Aiden Byrne. Inside, the look is fresh contemporary minimalism, light, bright and splashed with colourful artwork, and the mood follows suit – refreshingly unstuffy service with some dishes delivered by the chef. Materials are skilfully handled in tasting menus of eye-catching dishes – morels stuffed with chicken mousse come with smoked eel, diced scallop and pearl barley risotto boosted with bone marrow, then barbecued venison loin is matched with a feuille de brick tartlet filled with rose-poached beetroot and salt baked, and a fresh venison tartare dressed in rosehip vinegar.
