Àclèaf
"Highly polished cooking in historic Tudor house."
Overview
Àclèaf is Boringdon Hall’s intimate fine dining restaurant where tables look out over the wonderful Great Hall, which is very much the epicentre of the hotel. Nowadays, it’s a luxurious country house oasis five miles from Plymouth and close to Dartmoor National Park, but there’s still a tangible sense of the past here – period artwork, age darkened beams and historical artefacts abound. It was mentioned in the Domesday Book and you can almost imagine the doors swinging open and Henry VIII striding in, accompanied by the sound of buglers (Boringdon Hall was once given to the Earl of Southampton by none other than the monarch of many wives). There's an elegance about the setting, and a nicely balanced ambience, enough to make the dining occasion feel special, but not overly formalised.
