The Hoop
"Great cooking at this 15th-century weatherboarded pub."
Overview
The Hoop is an atmospheric, weatherboarded pub between Basildon and Chelmsford, and the restaurant is upstairs. You’ll see exposed rafters that were apparently salvaged from redundant warships, and find a menu of well-executed pub classics with influences that lean mostly toward the French and Italian. Service is relatively formal but still very friendly.
