Part of boutique hotel Malmaison York, cleverly converted from a former office block, Chez Mal Brasserie and Bar is stylishly functional, all black and blue, with tiles and wooden flooring. There’s an open kitchen, and plenty of natural light. Dining is along the lines of classic brasserie dishes with lots of pan-Asian fusion.
