Legacy
"Dynamic contemporary food in a majestic building."
Overview
Built in 1906, this grand Edwardian building close to the main attractions in the heart of York continues to be impressive. Now a luxury hotel with multiple food offerings, Legacy is the fine dining option and the modern cooking has a global influence but showcases produce from the Yorkshire region. A starter of shiitake mushroom custard, Jerusalem artichoke, porcini and charred corn could lead on to a main of Atlantic halibut, scallop mousseline, fermented carrot and sake-kombu sauce. The high levels of technical skill continues with a dessert of single origin Kalingo chocolate with oabika, peanut and passionfruit.

About the area
North Yorkshire, with its two National Parks and two designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is England’s largest county and one of the most rural. This is prime walking country, from the heather-clad heights of the North York Moors to the limestone country that is so typical of the Yorkshire Dales – a place of contrasts and discoveries, of history and legend
