Overview

Emerald Restaurant is the fine dining option at Matfen Hall, a classy 17th-century property set in 300 acres of beautiful Northumbrian countryside. Just 30 minutes from Newcastle, Matfen Hall is an elegant and impressive place with a bona fide stately home vibe and the complete package of its own golf course and luxurious spa treatments. From the moment you pass through the entrance and up the drive, it’s an atmospheric experience and anticipation is ramped up as you step into the Great Hall, with its wonderful stained glass, highly polished furniture and intricate gilded ceiling. On the food front, you can expect spot-on seasonal cooking in a dining room to savour, with enormous windows providing wonderful natural light and views out across the lawns and parkland and bringing a romantic air in the evening.
