Hambleton Hall
"Magnificent venue for seasonal modern cooking."
Overview
Originally built in the 1880s as a hunting lodge for a wealthy Victorian brewer, Hambleton Hall stands on the peninsula above Rutland Water reservoir (now a nature reserve), which arrived on the hall's doorstep in 1976 to enhance the splendour of the setting. In the next phase of its history, Hambleton was bought by Tim and Stefa Hart in 1979 who have created a magnificent destination hotel of distinction. The grand house was always meant for entertainment and pleasurable pursuits and to that end it remains a handsome place that delivers grandeur with elegant bedrooms, chic public rooms and a fabulous restaurant completing the picture. Chandeliers, oil paintings and linen-swathed tables provide reassuring formality, and service throughout is charming, professional and engaging.
