"Historic setting for modern Scottish fine dining."
Overview
With its setting in baronial Inverlochy Castle surveying a verdant valley at the foot of Ben Nevis, Seasgair by Michel Roux Jr certainly raises expectations. Once inside, the restaurant doesn’t disappoint – there’s a real sense of history and opulence, with all the high ceilings, antiques and crystal chandeliers you could hope for. The kitchen delivers modern Scottish dishes that pay due homage to classical roots, starting with confit chicken and duck liver terrine balanced with spiced plum purée, followed by perfectly timed Shetland turbot alongside braised fennel, silky mushroom purée and port fish cream. To finish, an ethereal pistachio soufflé comes with blackberry sorbet.
