Overview
The 17th-century schoolrooms of this former grammar school are now the setting for another kind of education. A Victorian kitchen, a costume room and extensive collection of local historical items are gathered to illustrate South Devon life. A walled garden and farm gallery are also features of this museum, founded to commemorate William Cookworthy, 'father' of the English china clay industry. The Local Heritage Resource Centre with public access databases, microfilm of local newspapers since 1855 and Devon Record Office service point are available to visitors. Extensive photographic collection available to view in kiosks. Please ring for details of special events.
