Abbey Dore Court Gardens

Recommended by Visit England Logo
Overview
A mature 6-acre garden with formal, wild and riverside areas and a further 4-acre meadow full of newly planted and unusual trees, where a pleasant seat has been placed under the shade of two large sequoias. Near the garden entrance, a relatively new area has been planted with bamboos, trees and shrubs. The walled garden has nine individual borders, neatly divided by brick paths and the place where the orchard once stood is marked by bulbs, with a central path decorated with wirework arches leading to a water sculpture. Two long borders, planted in gold, purple, blue and silver, lead down to the River Dore and a wild garden full of trees, shrubs and bulbs. There are well-placed seats throughout the garden where visitors can sit and enjoy the beautiful surroundings, a tearoom and a small nursery specialising in herbaceous perennials.
Location
ABBEY DORE, HR2 0AD
About the area
Herefordshire is split in two by the River Wye which meanders through the county on its way to the Severn and the sea. Largely rural, with Hereford, Leominster, and Ross-on-Wye the major towns and cities, its countryside and ancient villages are the county’s major asset.
