Overview
You can discover the fate of convicted thieves, smugglers, witches, pirates and murderers at a time when punishments included transportation or execution in this gruesome but fascinating museum. It’s housed in one of the oldest prisons in the country, and tells the story of Great Yarmouth’s criminals and punishment. Other exhibits detail the history of this former 12th-century merchant’s house that went on to become one of the town’s most important civic buildings.
