Overview
This is Middlesbrough’s main museum, with eight galleries and two further exhibition spaces, including plenty of hands-on activities and children’s trails. A particular highlight is the exhibition of pieces from the Linthorpe Pottery, a Victorian success in the town which lasted just 10 years – chief designer was the stylish Christopher Dresser (1834–1904), and it’s avidly collected today.
