Overview
Daring theatrical pioneer Stephen Joseph founded Britain’s first theatre-in-the-round here in 1955, and it moved to its present home – the old Odeon Cinema – in 1996, when still under the artistic directorship of playwright and farce-master Alan Ayckbourn. Today it’s one of Britain’s finest small theatres, and known for showcasing innovative new plays. With a 404-seat auditorium in the round and a further 165-seat cinema, it offers a fantastic programme of shows throughout the year.
