Knappogue Castle & Walled Garden

Recommended by Visit England Logo
Overview
Built in 1467, Knappogue has a long and varied history. Occupied by Cromwell's troops in 1641 and completely restored in the mid-19th century, the castle fell into disrepair in the 1900s. In 1966 the careful restoration was completed and today the castle is famous for its medieval events. The attractive restored Victorian walled garden includes among many of its features a collection of plants from the Victorian era. Medieval banquets operate in the castle on evenings from April to October (reservations necessary).
