Overview
Set on Fota Island, Fota Arboretum contains an extensive collection of trees and shrubs extending over 11 acres and includes features such as an ornamental pond and Italian walled gardens. Many of the tender plants could not be grown at inland locations, with many examples of exotic plants from the Southern Hemisphere.

About the area
Cork is Ireland’s southernmost county, and is also the largest. There’s a lot of coastline, most of which is rocky and dramatic, but there are some amazing beaches, like Barleycove, Inchydoney and Owenahincha.
