Errislannan Manor
Overview
The garden at Errislannan Manor is open to the public under the Royal Horticultural Society of Ireland Gardens for Charity scheme. Stephanie Brooks continues to look after the gardens in memory of her late husband and orthopaedic surgeon, Donal Meredith Brooks, who devoted much of his retirement to its upkeep and expansion. Surrounded by Connemara’s moors and mountains and sheltered by woodland, the manor overlooks a trout lake and is home to the Connemara pony stud and riding centre. Visit the grounds in April for the woodland’s daffodils, in May for the beautiful bluebells and in August for the orange mombretia. Spring also showcases the camellias, azaleas, rhododendrons and the other flowering shrubs at their best. In summer, the herbaceous border is worth seeing, and in autumn, the colours of hydrangeas are spectacular.
