The Skellig Experience
"The bravest will want to climb the 618 steps to the top of Skellig Michael."
Overview
The Skellig Rocks are renowned for their scenery, sea bird colonies, lighthouses, Early Christian monastic architecture and rich underwater life. The two islands - Skellig Michael and Small Skellig - stand like fairytale castles in the Atlantic Ocean, rising to 218 metres and their steep cliffs plunging 50 metres below the sea. The Heritage Centre, (on Valentia Island, reached from the mainland via a bridge), tells the story of the Skellig Islands in an exciting multimedia exhibition. Cruises around Skellig Islands are also available.

About the area
Ireland’s most easterly county, Kerry, features a coastline of many inlets and peninsulas. It’s also home to the country’s highest mountains – the three peaks of the quaintly-named MacGillycuddy's Reeks range; highest first, they are Carrauntoohil, Beenkeragh and Caher.
