Lodge Park Walled Garden
"A charming walled garden next to a steam museum."
Overview
Adjoining Lodge Park, this 18th-century walled garden has been under restoration in recent years and climbers, fruit trees and roses adorn the old brick-faced walls. Topiaried yew trees run the length of the garden and there is a magnificent south-facing shrub border edged in box hedges. Beech hedges divide the different garden rooms – a white garden, salad parterre, coloured borders, decorative vegetable area, herbaceous border and a walk-way of sweet peas. There is a circular rosarie in the orchard and the greenhouse contains an interesting collection of unusual plants from all around the world.
