Kilchurn Castle
Overview
Built in the mid-1400s by Sir Colin Campbell, 1st Lord of Glenorchy, Kilchurn Castle remained a base for the Campbell family for 150 years. Originally comprised of five storey's, much of the tower house still remains today. The castle has seen many uses, including a garrison stronghold during the Jacobite rebellions. One of the most photographed castles in Scotland, look out for the inscription over the front door and enjoy the views over Loch Awe from the top.

This is a county that’s all about awe-inspiring landscapes and unique island cultures. Ex-Beatle Paul McCartney put the area on the map when he wrote Mull of Kintyre, recorded in 1977 with the local pipe band backing his group.
