Overview
Built as a royal home for newlyweds William III and Mary II at the end of the 17th century, Kensington Palace has seen its share of history, with scenes of love, loss, heartbreak and happiness played out within its walls. Queen Victoria grew up here, and visitors will see the bedroom where she was woken to be told she was Queen. See also displays celebrating modern Royals, including Diana, Princess of Wales. The Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection includes representations of tailor's and dressmaker's workshops. In the grounds the delightful Orangery was built in 1704 for Queen Anne, and is now the place for an elegant cream tea.
